MQB (Modular Transversal Toolkit)
The Modular Transverse Toolkit (MQB) is currently Volkswagen’s most widely used technology platform. It forms the basis of a variety of models ranging from the small Polo to the large US SUV – the Atlas. All MQB models are equipped with transverse engines installed at the front. The benefits of the MQB include extraordinarily efficient use of space. As one of very few automakers, Volkswagen is able, thanks to the MQB, to offer all its conventional models with an electric powertrain, too. The Golf is an example: to date, this is the world’s first and only car offering customers a choice between petrol, diesel, CNG, electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

With Trailer Assist, drivers do not need to rethink the situation when reversing with a trailer. They no longer need to turn the steering wheel to the left to move the trailer to the right, or vice versa. In general, the system also makes it easier to reverse precisely in a straight line. To reverse with a trailer, the driver starts by selecting reverse gear and presses a button to activate the system. The steering angle is then indicated on the instrument cluster. The driver can set the intended direction using the mirror adjustment switch that functions like a joystick. The car receives the steering commands given by the system and the driver only needs to operate the accelerator and brakes. The power assisted steering is automatically operated to move the trailer in the required direction.
This coding guide only applies to cars on the MQB platform. Watch what you're doing. You can permanently damage your car's ECUs. All risk is yours.
